Taking Care of our Friends and Neighbors
Hampton Roads is our home, and we volunteer our time every year to make sure it stays the best place to live and work. Endurance IT President Blake White is a Hampton Roads native (Norview High School & Old Dominion University) and is committed to our local community.
We're proud of our volunteer efforts and in particular our time with EQUI-KIDS, EQUI-VETS. The EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program connects the special needs community with horses for riding and companionship. It supports people with disabilities like Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, attention deficit disorder and more. EQUI-VETS is a similar program for armed forces veterans.
The Endurance IT team always participates in the EQUI-KIDS 5K Cross Country Run, Stall Ball and the Belmont Bash.
In addition to EQUI-KIDS, Blake and Mitzi White founded Buddy BBall, a program to provide children with special needs the opportunity to interact with a volunteer BUDDY, work on basketball skills and have fun. Sunday mornings at Landstown Middle School, you can find the White family, volunteers and around 25 awesome kids ready to play!
Blake and Mitzi’s oldest daughter, Jordyn, is the inspiration behind Buddy BBall. Jordyn loves to bounce a basketball, and Blake and Mitzi saw the emotional and physical benefits for other children with special needs. Once they kicked off the first season, the program has become so popular, they now offer sessions each year. In addition to the children, the volunteers also reap emotional and physical benefits. Everyone leaves with a smile!
We also volunteer our time with Relay for Life, which helps communities around the world raise money to battle cancer. We participate in walks in Norfolk and Newport News. We also support other charities to include We Promise, Alzheimer's Association and the United Way.
